Background
CCL1 (Chemokine (C-C motif) Ligand 1), also known as I-309 in humans and TCA-3 in mice, is a small glycoprotein belonging to the CC chemokine β-subfamily. Human CCL1 shares ~42% amino acid identity with mouse TCA-3; both contain a unique extra pair of cysteine residues not found in most other chemokines.
In scientific and industrial fields, CCL1 mainly is focused on CCR8-targeted immunotherapy. CCR8 is an attractive drug target due to its restricted expression pattern (primarily Tregs and Th2 cells) and single human ligand (CCL1), minimizing off-target effects. CCL1 levels are also elevated in bronchoalveolar lavage of asthmatic patients and serum of atopic dermatitis patients .
