Background
Cannabinoid Receptor II (CB2) protein is a G protein-coupled receptor with seven transmembrane helices, belonging to the rhodopsin-like GPCR superfamily. It is a key component of the endocannabinoid system and is primarily expressed in the peripheral immune system, including immune cells and tissues, with minimal distribution in the central nervous system (CNS). CB2 plays a crucial role in modulating immune responses, particularly in the context of inflammation. Activation of CB2 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, making it a potential therapeutic target for conditions such as neuroinflammation, neuropathic pain, and immune-related disorders. CB2 is also involved in the regulation of cell-mediated and humoral immunity, and its activation can influence the migration and function of immune cells.
