Flow cytometric analysis of mouse CD117 expression on C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow. C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow was stained with Brilliant Violet 421™ Rat Anti-Mouse Lineage Cocktail Antibody and either Biotin Rat IgG2b, κ Isotype Control (left panel) or SDT Biotin Rat Anti-Mouse c-Kit (CD117) Antibody (right panel) at 2μl/test followed by Sav-PE. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.

Background
c-Kit (CD117) is a receptor tyrosine kinase encoded by the c-kit gene. It plays a crucial role in the development and function of various cell types including hematopoietic cells, melanocytes, and gastrointestinal interstitial cells. The ligand for c-Kit is stem cell factor (SCF), and the binding of SCF to c-Kit activates intracellular signaling pathways that promote cell proliferation, survival, differentiation, and migration. Mutations or overexpression of c-Kit are associated with several diseases such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and certain types of leukemia, making it an important target for therapeutic interventions.
