Background
ALPG, also known as ALPPL2 or germ-cell alkaline phosphatase, is a 532-amino-acid, GPI-anchored glycoprotein enzyme (EC 3.1.3.1) belonging to the alkaline phosphatase family that is normally restricted to testis, thymus and trophoblast but becomes aberrantly over-expressed on the surface of a broad spectrum of solid tumours—including seminoma, mesothelioma, ovarian, pancreatic and gastric cancers—where it catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphate monoesters, contributes to tumour growth and invasion, and serves as both a cancer-specific therapeutic target and a cell-surface marker for naïve pluripotency in stem-cell biology.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human placenta. Anti-ALPG antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human colon.
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human seminoma.
