Background

CD62P, also known as P-selectin, is a 140 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and immune responses. It is stored in α-granules of platelets and Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells, and is rapidly relocated to the cell surface upon activation by stimuli such as thrombin or histamine. CD62P mediates the initial adhesion and rolling of leukocytes on endothelial cells during inflammation and facilitates interactions between activated platelets and neutrophils or monocytes. It binds to specific carbohydrate ligands on leukocytes in a calcium-dependent manner. Additionally, CD62P is used as a marker for platelet activation and has potential diagnostic value in various diseases.

Flow cytometric analysis of Human CD62P expression on human peripheral blood. Human peripheral blood were stained with FITC Mouse Anti-Human CD41a Antibody and either Alexa Fluor® 700 Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 700 Mouse Anti-Human CD62P (Right panel) at 5μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using Agilent NovoCyte Quanteon and FlowJo™ software.
