Flow cytometric analysis of Rat CD90 expression on Lewis Rat splenocytes. Lewis Rat splenocytes were stained with Phycoerythrin Mouse Anti-Rat CD3 Antibody and either Alexa Fluor® 647 Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 647 Mouse Anti-Rat CD90 Antibody (Right panel) at 1.25μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.

Background
CD90, also known as Thy-1, is a 25-35 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed on various cell types, including T cells, neuroglial cells, fibroblasts, and some endothelial cells. CD90 plays important roles in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, cell adhesion, and differentiation. It is also a marker for several types of stem cells, such as mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and hematopoietic stem cells. Additionally, CD90 is involved in integrin-mediated signaling pathways and can regulate cell migration and stiffness sensing.
