Background

CD36 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a key fatty acid transporter and sensor, playing a crucial role in lipid metabolism. It is involved in the recognition and phagocytosis of lipids by macrophages and has been implicated in inflammatory responses and cardiovascular diseases. CD36 is also expressed in various immune cells and has been shown to regulate autophagy. Additionally, it is highly expressed in several types of cancer, where it promotes tumor progression by facilitating fatty acid uptake, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and resistance to anticancer drugs. CD36 has emerged as a potential therapeutic target for metabolic diseases, cardiovascular conditions, and cancer.

Flow cytometric analysis of Human CD36 expression on human peripheral blood. Human peripheral blood was stained with Brilliant Violet 605™ Mouse Anti-Human HLA-DR Antibody and either Alexa Fluor® 647 Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 647 Mouse anti-Human CD36 Antibody (Right panel) at 5μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.
