I. Product Introduction

Therapeutic targeting of IL-6 and its receptor.
IL-6 is a 21-28 kDa cytokine expressed by many cell types, including T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. It signals through a type I cytokine receptor complex composed of the ligand-binding IL-6Rα chain (CD126) and the signaling component gp130 (also known as CD130). By binding to its receptor, IL-6 influences antigen-specific immune responses, inflammatory reactions, and neuronal development, and it is a major mediator of the acute-phase reaction. The MP5-20F3 monoclonal antibody has been shown to neutralize the biological activity of native or recombinant IL-6.
