Flow cytometric analysis of Mouse CD117 expression on BALB/c mouse bone marrow. BALB/c mouse bone marrow was stained with FITC Rat Anti-Mouse CD34 Antibody and either PE-Cy7 Rat IgG2b, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT PE-Cy7 Rat Anti-Mouse CD117 Antibody (Right panel) at 1.25 μl/test treated with True-Stain Monocyte Blocker™. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.

Background
c-Kit (CD117) is a receptor tyrosine kinase encoded by the c-kit gene. It plays a crucial role in the development and function of various cell types including hematopoietic cells, melanocytes, and gastrointestinal interstitial cells. The ligand for c-Kit is stem cell factor (SCF), and the binding of SCF to c-Kit activates intracellular signaling pathways that promote cell proliferation, survival, differentiation, and migration. Mutations or overexpression of c-Kit are associated with several diseases such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and certain types of leukemia, making it an important target for therapeutic interventions.
