Flow cytometric analysis of Mouse CD8β expression on BALB/c mouse splenocytes. BALB/c mouse splenocytes were stained with Alexa Fluor® 647 Rat Anti-Mouse CD8a antibody and either FITC Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT FITC Rat Anti-Mouse CD8β Antibody (Right panel) at 5 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.

Background
CD8β is a protein that, along with CD8α, forms the CD8 co-receptor complex on the surface of cytotoxic T cells. This complex plays a crucial role in the immune response by facilitating the interaction between cytotoxic T cells and antigen - presenting cells. CD8β helps stabilize the binding of the T cell receptor to MHC class I molecules on the antigen - presenting cell, thereby enhancing the specificity and efficiency of the T cell - mediated immune response. This interaction is essential for the activation of cytotoxic T cells, which can then target and destroy infected or malignant cells.
