Flow cytometric analysis of Mouse CX3CR1 expression on C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow. C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow was stained with Brilliant Violet 421™ Rat Anti-Mouse CD11b antibody and either Biotin Mouse IgG2a, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT Biotin Mouse Anti-Mouse CX3CR1 Antibody (Right panel) at 5 μl/test followed by Sav-PE. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.

Background
CX3CR1 is a seven-transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptor expressed on monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, microglia and tissue-patrolling lymphocytes that serves as the exclusive receptor for the unique membrane-tethered or soluble chemokine CX3CL1 (fractalkine), thereby orchestrating leukocyte adhesion, chemotaxis and survival during development, homeostasis, viral and bacterial infections, inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis, neuroinflammatory conditions including Alzheimer’s disease, and tumor progression or metastasis, while also acting as a co-receptor for respiratory syncytial virus entry into airway epithelium and modulating antiviral immunity via IL-10 induction.
