Background

Y-box-binding protein 1 (YB-1), encoded by YBX1, is a multifunctional nucleic-acid-binding member of the cold-shock domain family that shuttles between cytoplasm and nucleus (the latter upon stress); it acts as a transcription factor, co-activator or repressor by binding the Y-box (5′-CTGATTGG-3′) and other elements, regulates mRNA splicing, stability and translation by associating with mRNPs and modulating cap-dependent/IRES-driven initiation, participates in DNA repair and stress responses, and its overexpression and nuclear accumulation are linked to cancer proliferation, metastasis, multidrug resistance (via MDR1, EGFR, CCNA/B1, etc.) and poor prognosis, making it a diagnostic marker and therapeutic target.

Goat polyclonal Antibody to Rabbit IgG - H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) was used as secondary antibody at 1/1000 dilution. The cells were fixed with 4% PFA and permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Triton X-100. Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (Blue). Counterstain with tubulin (Red).
