IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human colon. Anti-C1q antibody was used at 1/100 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Goat Anti-Rat IgG (H+L). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Background
The complement component 1q (or simply C1q) is a protein complex involved in the complement system, which is part of the innate immune system. C1q together with C1r and C1s form the C1 complex. Several functions have been assigned to C1q, which include antibody-dependent and independent immune functions, and are considered to be mediated by C1q receptors present on the effector cell surface [PMID: 10904115].
