Background
IFN-α is a type of cytokine belonging to the Type I interferon family, primarily produced by leukocytes like plasmacytoid dendritic cells. Its main role is as a crucial component of the innate immune system, acting as a first line of defense against viral infections. Upon binding to its receptor (IFNAR), it triggers the JAK-STAT signaling pathway inside the cell. This activation leads to the expression of hundreds of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). These genes create an "anti-viral state" by inhibiting various stages of the viral life cycle. Due to this potent anti-viral and immunomodulatory activity, synthetic IFN-α has been developed as a therapeutic drug. It is clinically used to treat several conditions, including hepatitis B and C, as well as certain cancers like hairy cell leukemia.

The concentrations of Monkey IFN-α were measured and interpolated from the target standard curves and corrected for sample dilution.
Sample is undiluted samples are as follows: Monkey PBMC cells stimulated with 1ug/ml poly I:C for 24 hours (100%). The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted. The mean target concentration was determined to be 10.68 pg/mL in stimulated monkey PBMC supernatant.
To assess the linearity of the assay, three samples were spiked with high concentrations of Monkey IFN-α in various matrices and diluted with the appropriate Calibrator Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.
